Matthew Quinns Zero7Four 180SX from Ireland.

The Zero7Four 180 is a 1994 Nissan 180SX Type R factory fitted with the famous SR20DET.  Matthew had looked at a few, but after setting his eyes on this he knew it was the one. Matthew fitted up a Cusco 2-way LSD and had her out on the track. Doing so took its toll on the body, so after a couple of years the 180 was stripped back and given a new paint job, in Nissan’s Midnight Purple along with a few new parts.

Over the course of ownership several additions have been made to bring the 180 up to this 10/10 status. Matthew had thoughts about buying another road car, and keeping this as his drifter, but prices were a bit out of control for a clean S-Chassis, so he decided to put her back on the road.

Matthew sorted himself out a garage to use and because the newly aquired DMAX bonnet needed a paint he quickly went about stripping the 180SX back to a bare shell, removing everything including the dash. The car was then re painted, this time inside and out, again in Nissan’s Midnight Purple LP2 paint.

Now it was time for Matthew to start the long search for parts, and not just any parts. The decision was made to not cut any corners. Everything fitted to this 180SX was going to be JDM and legit. This decision has well and truly paid off. You cant help but notice that the quality of this build is amazing. As time moved on, little bits and pieces have been added to the car to make it more unique. The genuine nismo badges custom inserted into the front fender grills look like they have been there from factory, an idea inspired by the GT86. Then there are the rear quarter window louvers, and not copies either, these are the real deal Nissan factory option, so is the sunroof delete. Are you weak at the knees yet?

One of the latest additions is this one off custom made rear diffuser .Other goodies include the custom front lip made up by Paul at Profit kits to match the lines of the front Kouki splitter – Canards at either side are also removable and they are screwed into countersunk threaded holes that sit flush in the bumper.

The splitter kit has been painted in a plastic based paint to give it an OEM factory look which breaks up the purple. Matthew also painted the standard Nissan badge matte black to tie it into the mean evil and aggressive look that he was going for.

As you will see when scrolling the impressive mod list, over the course of ownership Matthew has added a huge variety of genuine hard to find parts, optional factory extras most of us can only dream about. All these parts help to achieve this unique and custom yet OE look. It is without a doubt one of the most tastefully modified 180s I have ever seen, and I am sure most of you will agree.

The TE37s were refurbished from white to bronze and genuine stickers were then added to finish them off.  The wheels really set the car off, the combination of purple and bronze is straight candy!

Inside the car we are greeted with more accessories that will make your eyes bulge. Origin Carbon Door cards have been added, Matthew fitted the pockets and speaker covers off the original doors to make the carbon ones look more factory. You will also notice the Nardi 350mm wheel and boss along with Recaro Confetti bucket seats on Bride rails up front and an OE kouki rear seat. Matthew and his passengers are kept safe by the Cusco dash dodger full roll cage.

Yes, those are GENUINE NISMO seat belt cushions, not eBay specials!

Matthew keeps an eye on everything via a range of Defi guages – Boost, Oil Temp, Oil Pressure and Water Temp. Speed and revs are monitored via the OE Nissan Digital Cluster with Heads up Display.

So, what is Matthew’s favorite part on the 180? That would be the kazama gear knob –

“I dunno why.. but I love it – I got it when everyone else was rocking the stupid dildo gear knob fad – just reminds me to do your own thing and not follow the trends”

With the 180SX pretty much perfect in Matthews eyes, the plan now is to just drive and maintain it and keep her looking good.
