For this feature we head back down to New Zealand’s picturesque South Island to catch up with Latisha Louise and check out her sparkling 1997 S14 Silvia. Latisha was originally on the hunt for a S15 track car, but while she was looking for one this S14 came up for sale, it was sporting a few added goodies like the roll cage, and internal engine modifications. A deal was struck and the car was hers.

Although the car looked terrible, Latisha could see the potential and soon got to work. The engine was already forged, so for Latisha it was just a matter of adding some bolt on mods to get the engine up to standard. First on the list was a turbo upgrade, which is a 474 Masterpower item sitting on a steam pipe low mount manifold.

Other extras include the Tial 38mm external wastegate, 555cc injectors, Apexi air filter and a Z32 AFM. Internally the engine runs C P oversize forged pistons, ACL bearings, heavy duty valve springs and is clamped shut with ARP head bolts. The ECU has been chipped and the set up has been tuned by NZEFI to run on 98 octane pump gas.

Moving onto the exterior, Latisha has fitted a variety of aftermarket panels to achieve this look, with a Vertex front bar up front, Finial Konnexion side skirts and rear bumper, and Origin Labo front and rear fenders. A roof wing and the factory S14 boot spoiler finish off the look.

With the body work taken care of it was time to complete the exterior transformation with new paint. This job was left to Cany Customs, who used a black base coat with a secret sparkle overlay, then a huge amount of clear coat on top for ultimate shine points.

In the suspension department you will find a set of  Tein Winding Masters all round, a full set of chromoly arms in the rear and sub frame movement is limited thanks to locking collars. Bringing the car to a stop is left to the GTR brakes in all four corners.

Transmitting the engine power to the ground is done thanks to a rebuilt SR20DET 5 speed gearbox and 3 puk race clutch. Distributing it evenly between the rear wheels is done by the Cusco 2 way differential, which sends it on out to the Work Emotion D9R wheels that are waiting eagerly to light up and break traction.

Inside the goodness continues with a Sparco FIA Circuit race seat and KW passenger seat, Defi Water and Temperature gauges and an oil pressure gauge to keep an eye on the vital signs. Keeping driver and passenger safe is left to the pink Homologated 8 point roll cage and topping it all off is a Silvester harness and NRG steering wheel. Future plans for the S14 include a new wheels and a new turbo set up.
